Life on Earth has managed to persist over time in a natural way, succeeding and succeeding in such adverse conditions.
All these processes have been the consequence of the inevitable passage of very long periods of time, which have allowed ecosystems and the biosphere itself to find long-term equilibrium. The problem is that since man ceased to be a nomadic and itinerant animal to settle in permanent places and develop the economy, the influence and the change he has exerted on the modification of the environment, using resources for his survival and his own well-being, has been accelerating. Some of these actions have brought with them the destruction of the environment or, at least, its pollution.
The importance of identifying an environmental impact lies in the need to minimize the damages and maximize the benefits to the environment that an action or activity implies, in order to guarantee the sustainable use of the resources involved and the protection of the environment, including both the aspects that make up the integrity of the natural and socio-economic environment.
It is understood that environmental remediation is a set of actions that, through the removal or neutralization of environmental contaminants, seeks to protect the environment.
A remediation program should at least:
• Size the environmental damage. • Give an economic value of the damage generated. • Describe the remediation strategy.
The stages in the remediation process of a contaminated site vary depending on, among other things, the extent of the site, the contaminants involved and the severity of the problem caused by the contaminants.
Therefore, it is essential that the remediation program provides a solution that is environmentally safe; but also economically feasible.
People all over the planet come together on June 8 for World Oceans Day - an event dedicated to celebrating and honouring the waters that connect us all. Here are 5 organisations that are working tirelessly to ensure that the oceans are clean and safe for all to enjoy.
Every clean up is different, it all depends on what exactly what it is in the ground and water. I would used the figure of $89.00 per 1500 square foot for soil remediation. Use a figure of $685.00 for a contaminated well (ground water) remediation. Sometimes it can cost less and cost more. A good example I can give you for a SPILL CLEANUP of transformer oil at a utility company recently cost $2500.00 in product for a 1/2 acre area. Mind you this was a 2500 gallon spill of transformer oil on soil. A recent diesel fuel spill on a RR property cost $3500.00 in product to clean up. It was a 1500 gallon spill.
Phytoremediation is an energy efficient, aesthically pleasing method of remediating sites with low to moderate levels of contamination and it can be used in conjunction with other more traditional remedial methods as a finishing step to the remedial process. The cost of phytoremediation has been estimated as $25 - $100 per ton of soil, and $0.60 - $6.00 per 1000 gallons of polluted water with remediation of organics being cheaper than remediation of metals.
All of Tat-Tech, Inc. technologies are based on HiFEIS, a proprietary technology. HiFEIS, High Frequency ElectroInduction System, was developed by J. Wayne Tatman during several years of research and testing while working in the mining industry. The principle goal was to selectively recover precious metals from an aqueous solution. He eventually discovered that HiFEIS could be used for a number of applications: recovery of minerals, remediation of mine tailings, water purification, cleaning sewage water, desalination of sea water, generating electricity from sea water, economical production of hydrogen, removal of hydrocarbons from oil fields, beaches and the ocean floor, all with no pollution or carbon footprint or the use of chemicals.
Mycoremediation is an incredible technique using fungi to break down oil and other contaminants. This short film shows how the Amazon Mycorenewal Project initiated the first ever trials using myco-remediation in highly polluted areas of the Ecuadorian rainforest.
The Sierra Club is the nation's leader in grassroots environmental litigation. The Club's Environmental Law Program directs legal strategy for the Sierra Club's climate recovery campaigns and chapters. The Environmental Law Program's docket covers the entire range of environmental issues, from local fights over polluting coal plants to cases of national significance on greenhouse gases, toxic pollution, clean air, clean water, and wilderness preservation.
BacTech Environmental: Spurring a Revolution in Environmental Remediation with Mining solutions for a greener planet! BacTech is a pioneering, environmental technology company that has developed and commercialized a proprietary technology to remediate highly toxic tailing areas resulting from abandoned mining operations. BacTech's core technology, called "bioleaching", employs naturally-occurring bacteria, harmless to both humans and the environment, to oxidize the sulphide materials left behind after years of mining. The tailings may contain ores and related materials contaminated by arsenic and other substances that are poisonous to humans and animals, as well as harmful to the local environment.

Nelson Environmental Remediation, Ltd. is a Western Canada‐based environmental contractor, specializing in soil remediation and contaminated site preparation/restoration. Nelson’s unique mobile, thermal soil remediation system is cost-effective, has a predictable timeline, eliminates liability issues attached to a site, and results in beneficial re-use soil. Bottom line, we provide Clean Dirt, No Doubt!
Our team has been working with bioremediation tools for more than three decades with the earliest field trails in farmed catfish going back to the mid 1990's. We were the first company to patent the use of bacteria for the purpose of improving water quality in ponds containing catfish. Our bioremediation products have been reported by clients to result in:
Cleaner pond bottoms
Reduced blue green algae loads (via competition for nutrients-these products are not algaecides)
Less water exchange needed (savings in pumping costs)
Reduced green vibrio counts (on TCBS, the vibrio associated with AHPNS produces green colonies)
Reduced overall vibrio loads (the Bacillus in our products compete against the vibrios for nutrients)
Reduced ammonia levels (broken down by the bacteria in our products)
Reduced disease outbreaks (a result of a change in the microbial flora)
Better feed efficiency (a result of a cleaner environment)
